One thing that I love doing with my boudoir shoots is introducing a woman’s personality and interests into the theme and layout of the shoot.  Julie has beautiful birds as her pets, so I wanted to include them somehow.  Well…….the adage “don’t work with children or small animals” is so far from the truth here.  Julie’s baby girl posed so eloquently for the camera!  I am not really sure who was upstaging who by the end of the shoot lol

Julie was doing this shoot as a birthday present to herself.  I have had a number of clients book me as a present to themselves.  While it is wonderful to do this type of photo shoot as a present to your partner, many of my clients have commented about how this was just as much a present to themselves!!!!  I think that this is a wonderful idea for a present to yourself, and more power to you!!!  Emotive’s Sexy and Vibrant Boudoir Ladies!!!!

Ms “Julie” just came to see her photos today and was so excited about sharing them.  I could wait and had to blog them today!  Looking forward to creating a beautiful Session Album for you, Julie!

This image below always makes me smile.  It really encapsulates Ms “Julie” and her fun personality!

Many times when I ask my clients to try a certain pose, it is because I can ’see’ something that I will be able to create with the image later on…..this is a perfect example of one of those times!  I just love this photo.

Ms “Julie” reminds me of a Grecian woman here, with the pose and the treatment given to the image in post-processing.

This would have to be my absolute favourite image from the shoot.  The way that her back and hair looks, along with the inquisitive look that her bird is giving me…..it just works for me….

When I saw that a friend had some glamour shots taken, I was determined to get some done as a little gift to myself for my birthday. I searched the web for the perfect boudoir photographer, and when I came across Louise’s website I was just stunned by the images she created.

Louise was very patient with the millions of ideas I had for the shoot, and we used most of them on the day. To look at my photos, you wouldn’t know that I was nervous – but I wanted my pictures to be perfect of course! She was very skilled at putting me at ease or stopping for breaks when necessary. You should also know that I am normally quite introverted, but she knew just the right things to say to make sure I posed well (as you can see!). All my friends love the photos and I can’t stop showing them off!

Thankyou Louise for creating such beautiful images. I couldn’t have hoped for better photos of myself – and will treasure them for decades to come.

My boudoir session with Louise was such a fun and empowering experience, I can’t recommend it enough to other women. Louise was so open and helpful through the whole process – happy to meet a number of times before the session to discuss my ideas on themes, outfits and location. I had such fun on the day and felt completely at ease, even while my body was contorted in some very odd positions! I never felt awkward or uncomfortable, and we had lots of laughs.

Then came the photos…. I was literally blown away at the viewing. I could not pick one photo that wasn’t gorgeous. Louise had exactly translated my ideas into truly beautiful photographs, so much more than I had hoped for. The images were fun, sexy but in such a tasteful way I would wallpaper my whole house with them if I could! While I had initially had the session as a gift for my husband-to-be, they turned out to be as much a gift to myself. My husband also thinks they’re pretty great (understatement of the year).

I know that most people probably say this in their summary of the past year, but Emotive Images has truly been blessed with so many opportunities this year.

Admittedly it has been a difficult year also, with family members going through major surgeries and complications, and funerals…..

But it has been an amazing year for a number of other reasons…….finally meeting my friend Jules after years and years of talking online……….developing closer friendships with Lynette, Meg, Yohti and Willow…………building such a strong network of friendships with other wedding photographers in our regular lunch group…………Paula Gray and Peter Williams have been amazing friends and colleagues through my journey………….meeting Yervant and Jerry Ghionis several times throughout the year………..meeting Wayne Radford, Ryan Schembri, Rob and Shirl Heyman, Greg Dries, Kelly Munce, David Oliver, and Alan Khan…………..attending August Exposure for another year………….winning 3 silvers at Queensland AIPP awards and 1 silver at National AIPP awards……………

Rob and Shirl Heyman in particular have been such a source of inspiration and encouragement.

And with regards to our clients……..well…….2009 has been a wonderful journey sharing our client’s milestones, achievements and memories.

We have had the opportunity to photograph client’s bellies and babies, beautiful chubba bubba’s, amazingly empowered women’s curves, brides and grooms in love, families and their friends.

If it wasn’t for our clients, then we would not have had the year that we had.  And for that, I am truly thankful for being invited into our clients’ lives, their homes, and their hearts.  They are well and truly considered part of the Emotive Images family, and we look forward to working with them all again in 2010 and the many years to come!  OK, I will stop being all soppy now

Here is a rundown of my top 20 favourite images for 2009!!!!!!!!

This image has a lot of significance, as it earned me a Silver Award at State and National AIPP awards in 2009, for my first time entering awards.

I love this image, not just because it gained me a Silver at State AIPP level, but I just love the form captured in Ms “J”s figure.  It all came together beautifully in this shot!

This image also earned me Silver at the State AIPP awards.  I also love this photo as I feel that it is quite an intimate capture of Ms “S”, something I try and do in my boudoir sessions with my female clients.  It also symbolises a change in direction in some of my post-processing techniques.

I love this capture of Stephanie on her wedding day.  She had 5 bridesmaids, and they kept on serenading her with different songs throughout the day to calm her nerves and bring out that beautiful smile of hers.

For me, family and interactions epitomise what weddings are all about.  The expression on Phil’s mother’s face here was just priceless.  This photo makes me smile each time I see it.

I love colour, texture, and interaction between my clients and the camera.  This photo sums that up perfectly for me.

I had the opportunity to meet an old friend for the first time ever this year.  We have been talking on the internet for years, preparing our own weddings together.  I managed to capture some photos of Jules’ beautiful chubba bubba Tristan while seeing her in Sydney.  I love everything about this photo.

I enjoy working with models and makeup artists to further develop my craft and practice ideas that I can later utilise during my client shoots.  That is what this photo represents.  My head is exploding with the different ideas I have planned for personal projects this coming year.

Little Cate was such an adorable bubba, and challenged me to think outside the square with my newborn shoots.  She was as alert as anything in her first week of life.  No sleepy shots for her   I just love how her tongue sticks out here, almost like she knows exactly what is happening (”take that camera!!!!”)

I just love this photo for the simplicity of what it represents…..parents loving their daughter who is about to get married, and the biggest grin on Yara’s face!

Ms “K” was fairly typical of the women who book me for a Le Chic Boudoir session…….shy, a touch nervous, and a little unsure of how well they will photograph with this type of theme……….Well…….this photo symbolises for me the transformation that Ms “K” went through during this session.  She looks amazing…..AND……she believes it!  What more could a woman wish for?

Another model and makeup artist arrangement here……..I just LOVE the movement in this shot, and the intensity in Sheree’s eyes here……

Renee and Dave had so much fun on their wedding day, and this photo sums this up perfectly!  I just loved photographing their wedding day!  The joy in this photo makes me smile each time I see it!

This family of 5 were such a joy to photograph.  This photograph sums up for me what siblings are all about

I just loved photographing Melissa and Blair’s wedding day!  Boy was it a long day, but so much fun!  The love between these two was so apparent.  They welcomed us into their home and into their day……..it was a joy to be a part of it!

Photographing Tamea’s baby belly was such great fun!  The 3am wake up call was well worth it!  Look at that sky, the water reflection and the lighting!  This also symbolises a slight change in my post-processing.

Another example of a shy and unsure female client…….Ms “L” just shone through this Le Chic Boudoir session…….Using inspiration from American Beauty the movie, I just love this photo for the expression through her eyes and smile, the rose petals, and the suggestion of skin showing.  The transformation that Ms “L” went through during and after this session, is what motivates me the most to do these types of sessions!

This photo symbolises a change in my post-processing, including textures and toning into my photos.  I just adored this shoot.  Little Ben was such a sleepy head!  I just love his whole expression here.

Yes, you know that I have to end my top 20 photos for 2009 with another Boudoir photo   Ms “L” was the epitome of an amazing client and subject to photograph.  This woman has had a baby and look at how hot she looks!  Ms “L” threw herself totally into this experience, and I have only ever seen her advance in leaps and bounds in her own confidence since the shoot.  She is an amazing woman and I am so pleased that I was able to capture the types of photos that did her justice and that she deserved!  Ms “L” is slightly different to my other boudoir clients, as she commissioned this session as a present to herself for her birthday.  I think that more women should do this, as it is just as much a present to themselves as it is to their partner.

Like I said……….an amazing year for Emotive Images……..
